Yellow RAPT Pill - Hydrometer & Thermometer (Wifi & Bluetooth)

£55.00 Regular price £75.00

FROM KEGLAND:

The RAPT Pill allows true real-time specific gravity and temperature logging and control via wifi/BlueTooth integration.

The RAPT Pill allows you to instantly read and log the specific gravity and temperature of your fermentation via the RAPT mobile app on your compatible Android smartphone or tablet, Apple iPhone/iPad or via the RAPT IoT hub on your Windows or Mac Computer.

Please note: The RAPT Pill is fully wifi and Bluetooth capable. At present it can be integrated fully with wifi. Bluetooth integration will be enabled with a later firmware update.

The RAPT Pill has a long battery life and can last 2-5 months between charges when utilising Wifi. If only using Bluetooth the battery can last 2+ years before needing to be recharged. The RAPT Pill has a USB-C charging port on the circuit board allowing fast charging from any USB-C cable.

How long will the pill last between charges?
60min telemetry frequency - 1.5 years
30min telemetry frequency - 9.5 months
15min telemetry frequency - 5 months
NOTE: This is the default telemetry frequency is 60 min so if you do not change the settings then out of the box the battery should last 1.5years approximately.

The RAPT Pill is universal and is compatible with most standard carboys, Cornelius kegs, stainless steel fermenters, and pressurisable fermenters.

Pill Housing Design

The RAPT Pill housing boasts many advantages compared to other wireless hydrometers such as:

  1. Made from strong BPA Free Nylon 12 and Polyketone(POK)
Both the clear Nylon 12 and Polyketone plast are food grade, FDA approved, BPA (and free of other types of bisphenol).  These are also plasticiser and phthalate-free.  They also contain no endocrine disruptors making them a much better choice than polycarbonate that is used in other products.  Nylon 12 and POK are also high temperature resistant, chemically resistant and extremly robust.
  2. Greater ergonomics - The shape of the RAPT Pill has been designed for improved usability compared to other wireless hydrometers such that the Pill separates into two pieces at the midline of the Pill rather than requiring a difficult to remove end cap to be unscrewed.
  3. Sanitary design - The RAPT Pill has no exposed thread and a double o-ring seal which allows for a water-tight seal with reduced risk of infection.
  4. Less susceptible to error - The larger housing of the RAPT Pill compared to other wireless hydrometers means that the gravity logging is less susceptible to error from krausen, hops or CO2 bubbles from fermentation.

Different housing colours are sold separately on the website allowing customisation of your RAPT Pill.

Specifications:

The RAPT Pill is approximately 37mm x 125mm - compact enought to fit almost anywhere!

What is RAPT?

The RAPT IOT Hub is a free service whereby any RAPT enabled product can both log and store data to the hub where you can conveniently access this data.  The RAPT hub can also allow you to control your devices remotely giving you absolute control of the device irrespective of where you are.  The RAPT portal enables you to make complex temperature profiles that involve different temperature settings over time meaning you can start/run a temp profile giving you a set and forget experience.  The RAPT portal also controls the alert/notification process for you so you can receive email notification in the off instance that something doesn't go to plan.

There is no limit to the number of RAPT devices you can connect the RAPT IOT Hub. This is in contrast to other popular wireless hydrometers where you are limited by the number of hydrometers you can connect to an app.

Please note: The RAPT Pill is fully wifi and Bluetooth capable. At present it can be integrated fully with wifi. Bluetooth integration will be enabled with a later firmware update.

Antenna Update
The RAPT Pill has been designed so you can plug in an optional upgradable external antenna.  With that said we have done a significant amount of optimisation with the printed PCB antennas to improve gain.  This RF laboratory testing and optimisation was completed in late 2021 and was impletement on all PCB board versions 2.0 and above.  Through vigorous testing we have concluded that the on board printed PCB antenna is better than any other external antenna that we have found so far.  So until we find better external antennas we have ceased the sale of these inverior antennas.  If however you would like to experiement with external antenna the boards are fitted with a socket for this.  If you find a particularly good antenna please let us know and we will send it off for testing.  If we find one that is significant better we will also make this available to our customers too.

Brewing frequently asked questions

How long does it take to brew beer?

The time it takes to brew beer can vary, but on average, the process takes about 4 to 6 weeks. This includes the various stages such as malting, mashing, boiling, fermenting, conditioning, and bottling. However, some beer styles may require longer aging periods for optimal flavor development.

Is home brewing worth it?

Many people find home brewing to be a rewarding and enjoyable hobby, allowing them to create unique and customised beers. It provides a deeper understanding of the brewing process and offers the opportunity to experiment with different ingredients and styles. Additionally, home brewing can be cost-effective in the long run compared to purchasing craft beers. However, it requires time, effort, and a certain level of commitment. Whether it's worth it ultimately depends on one's passion for brewing and the satisfaction derived from the process and the end product.

Is home brewing legal?

Home brewing for personal use is generally legal, and there is no need for a specific license as long as certain conditions are met. Home brewers are allowed to produce beer, wine, and cider for personal consumption. However, there are limits on the amount that can be brewed without a license. As of January 2022, the limits were 100 litres for beer and 100 litres for wine per household.

It's important to stay informed about any updates or changes in the regulations, so it's advisable to check with local authorities or brewing associations for the most current information regarding home brewing laws in the UK. Always ensure that you comply with the relevant regulations and guidelines to enjoy home brewing within the legal framework.
